Produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. Both Godzilla and the red sun are symbols referring to Japan. As Godzilla came in the aftermath of the nuclear explosion, this also refers to Hiroshima. King Kong was used as the U.S. counterpart to Godzilla.
