Acquisition Number: 2006-136

Two days after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Leif Steiner, creative director for Moxie Sozo, a Boulder, Colorado-based graphic design and advertising agency, organized a group of international designers and artists to create The Hurricane Poster Project. Over 180 posters commemorating the event were designed, produced and sold online, raising more than $50,000. The profits were donated to the Red Cross. Many of the posters have won major design awards, and exhibitions of the show have appeared in Louisiana, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Italy.
