Notes:
Ulises Ruiz Ortiz was elected Governer of Oaxaca (PRI Party) in 2004, in disputed election. Vicente Fox is the ex-president of Mexico (PAN Party). Felipe Calderón (FECAL) was elected President of Mexico in 2006, in a disputed election. Although Calderón and Ulises Ruiz Ortiz were from rival parties, they needed to support the "legitimacy" of each other's election, so they collaborated. The Adelita figure is probably Comandante Ramona.

Exhibition Annotation:
Uncle Sam, (Vicente) Fox and Fecal (Felipe Calderón) wanted to take URO (Ulises Ruiz Ortiz) out of the cemetery but the people were already waiting for them with another revolution!! The heroes are on the left, the enemies on the right. From Left to right Benito Juárez holds a book titled Dignidad/Dignity. From Oaxaca, he was elected President of Mexico for five terms, 1858–1872, and was dedicated to democracy, equal rights for his nation's indigenous peoples, and separation of church and state. Adelita, an indigenous woman soldier from the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920), holds a machete labeled Iqualidad/Equality. A child wearing a Zapatista mask. Ricardo Flores Magón, anarchist and social reform activist from Oaxaca, holds a torch labeled Libertad/Liberty. Emiliano Zapata holds a gun and a machete labeled Justicia/ Justice. Oaxaca Governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz (PRI) is in his grave, marked RIP URO, 04-08, Fascist Repressor, but Felipe Calderón (PAN, President of Mexico 2006-2012), Vicente Fox (PAN, President of Mexico 2000-2006), and Uncle Sam, try to pull him out. *Fecal refers to Felipe Calderón. It translates as feces and comes from combining the first syllables of his first and last name. Both Fox and Calderón are members of the conservative Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), but Ortiz is a member of the rival PRI. As the elections results of both Calderón and Ruiz Ortiz were disputed, they needed to support the "legitimacy" of each's election, so they collaborated. Scattered tombstones read: mal gobierno/bad government, PAN (the right wing Partido Acción Nacional/National Action Party), and PRI (the center right Partido Revolucionario Institucional / Institutional Revolutionary Party). The cemetery is also scattered with rats, lizards and skulls. One of the skulls has “68” on it, referring to the massacre of hundreds of students and civilian protesters in Mexico City in 1968.
