Exhibition Annotation:
WILLIAM GUILLERMO MORALES William Morales was injured and captured in an explosion in a Manhattan apartment. He was accused of being a bomb-maker for the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional (FALN), an underground Puerto Rican independence group. While still severely wounded, he escaped or was liberated from the jail unit at Bellevue Hospital. He returned to the underground, and was later recaptured with U.S. participation in Mexico. A massive campaign resulted in his being allowed to gain asylum in Cuba rather than being extradited to the U.S. He still lives in Cuba.
