Condoman says: Don't Be Shame Be Game Use Condoms! © Department of Health, Housing and Community Services, Aboriginal Heath Workers of Australia (Queensland)

Acquisition Number: 1997-065

Style derives from Roy Lichtenstein, whose style in turn derived from comic strips. The original Condoman posters were printed by Redback Graphix in 1987. This work uses the same design, yet the Redback logo (bottom left) is not complete. The triangle is featured without the spider motif. Also the text has changed to read 'use condoms!' it was initially 'use frenchies!' This work is possibly a reprint.

Exhibition Annotation:
"Condoman," the Phantom-like figure who advocates the use of condoms for young Indigenous men, was one of the more successful anti-AIDS campaigns for indigenous health in Australia.
